Salado Civic Center

The Salado Civic Center building is home to Salado ISD, and hosts several community events throughout the year. The Gazebo area is available for rent for various functions including weddings.

Old Red School Historical Site: After a third fire destroyed the old school, Salado was in desperate need of a modern schoolhouse. Alice Joy Hamblen, widow of William K. Hamblen, came to the rescue with a generous donation that included the old Hamblen family home, located at Main Street and Van Bibber Road. The home was demolished to make room for a new brick facility that was constructed in 1924. After many years as a school, it ceased to be used as a public school in 1979. The community then restored the building, and it was used as Salado’s Civic Center, and today it houses the offices of the Salado Independent School District.
