Welcome to Salado!

Centrally located 50 miles north of Austin and 50 miles south of Waco, Salado is so close, yet oh so far away. Our year-round, spring-fed Salado Creek winds through the historic district and out to the renowned Mill Creek Country Club. The Village of Salado offers a quiet reprieve that helps you escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The story of Salado commences right alongside that of the Republic of Texas; from the millions of cattle trekking the Chisholm to the emergence of tasteful microbreweries, Salado serves as a parallel to the robust and ever-changing story of Texas.

From fine art galleries to down-to-earth restaurants, almost every business, and its owner, has a story. Transplants from across the country, Salado has given welcome to residents from all walks of life. Each of our community members has crafted their own Salado and have thus breathed a new life of passion, creativity, and serenity into this place.

Here, you’ll enjoy one-of-a-kind shopping experiences, world class food, inspiring art, and a sense of serenity found nowhere else. Salado has one of Texas’ oldest hotels and the ruins of one of its first co-educational colleges. Juxtaposed against eateries leading the Central Texas culinary scene and modern art that is renowned around the world.

For over 160 years, Texans have been writing the story of Salado. Help us write the next chapter!
