Vickrey House (Historic Site #30)

The Vickrey House was built in 1885 by Granville N. Vickrey for his family. He was a prominent merchant, builder, cattleman, and owned a grocery store and several farms in the area. The house is an example of Second Empire construction. This Victorian style was less common in Texas, and it is unusual to find a Mansard roof on this small, ell-plan house. This is the only example of Victorian architecture in Salado. The house is currently n antique shop. (NRHP)
