Salado Culinary Festival

Join us for a fun-filled weekend of food, art, and chocolate!

Formerly known as the Chocolate and Wine Festival, join us this year for our revamped Salado Culinary Festival! The Village of Salado will celebrate the harvest season with a weekend showcasing its local culinary talent. We hope to expose the creative spirit of Salado while supporting its local producers of food, beverages, and fine experiences. A resurgence of hospitality endeavors in Salado have brought new chefs, new ideas, and new flavors to our beloved Village.

Each year of this festival is inspired by a culinary theme. For 2019, we will be celebrating chocolate! You will have the chance to indulge in the taste of Salado, from its wine and beer, to the many culinary offerings. While enjoying our local artists, inns, and restaurants, you will find an intimate yet engaging experience, all inspired by chocolate.

You can design-your-own experience by choosing from the following menu of events:

 

Friday, September 20

Shop ’til you can’t stop!

10am – 6pm

If you’re gonna shop anyway, why not have the chance to win more shopping? We agree. Stop by the visitor center for a shopping “passport” to lead you through Salado’s legendary boutiques.

Stop by the Visitors Center or one of our participating shops to pick up your passport!

Join the Stagecoach Inn for Dinner

5pm – 8pm

Join Salado’s oldest restaurant for a fresh look at what is new. You’ll be invited by the Stagecoach Inn family for dinner and wine as they lead you through their modern cuisine that is inspired by ages past. After dinner, you will be welcomed to Salado’s newest gallery J. Genevieve for a taste of the eclectic as you interact in an immersive art experience and enjoy your delicious dessert.

Saturday, September 21

Satisfy your urge to Shop

10am – 6pm

If you’re gonna shop anyway, why not have the chance to win more shopping? We agree. Stop by the visitor center for a shopping “passport” to lead you through Salado’s legendary boutiques. Fill out the passport and your name will be entered for a “Stay and Play” raffle sponsored by the Salado Chamber of Commerce!

Stop by the Visitors Center or one of our participating shops to pick up your passport!

Play with Fudge and Fondant!

10am – 2pm

Let the village potter, Titia, take you on a journey of self-exploration (some call it throwing pottery) using a unique medium, chocolate fondant.

Smash those Grapes!

3pm – 8pm

Join our friends at Salado Winery for their fourth annual grape stomp! They will be hosting a grape stomp competition, Wear Your Whites contest (bridal gowns and white suites, etc), and an I Love Lucy Look-a-Like judging. This grape stomp will be the perfect opportunity to make your Instagram followers super jealous.

Dine with our finest restaurants and artists!

6pm – 9pm

After a long day of fun on Saturday, you will have an opportunity to choose one of our restaurants for an unique evening celebrating local chefs and artists. Each of our participants have crafted a unique experience in which you can indulge in the finest Salado has to offer, on and off the plate! Each experience offers a one-of-a-kind experience and is individually ticketed.

 

Alexander’s Craft Cocktails & Kitchen + Griffith Fine Art Gallery

This creek-side experience will lead you through four courses as your taste your way through the talents of Chef Dave Hermann. Afterwards, join them at Kay’s very own Griffith Fine Art Gallery for a “sweet ending.”

Join The Barton House at local gallery Uniquely Salado where they will introduce you to over 20 of Salado’s artists. After this quaint reception, you’ll walk just next door to join the Barton House they lead you through three courses and a dessert aimed to make your night one to remember.

Sunday, September 22

Brunch at the Brewery

10am – 12pm

Join us at Barrow Brewing Company for a brunch like no other! Country Fried Chicken & Bluegrass Brunch! Enjoy the most mouth-watering chicken biscuit you’ve ever had with delicious sides by guest Chef Seth Helmly. All the while listening to authentic Bluegrass music straight out of Austin by The Hot Pickin’ 57’s!
